About FJ De La Haye

Mr FJ De La Haye

The Company was founded in 1938 by Mr Francis J De La Haye who operated from a Workshop behind his home "Grassmere" in St Mary. Mr De La Hayes' son Norman took over the reins after his Father's retirement and employed the current owner Gary Du Val in 1986 as Joinery Foreman. The Workshop has grown over the years but the business has remained at "Grassmere".

Our craftsmen have between them some 210 years experience. Our way of operation is fairly unique in today's market place. Each job is seen through from start to finish by the same person necessatating skill in all aspects of the trade. This time proven way of working develops craftsmen and is a true model for succession planning. From selecting timber and marking out to machining and finishing, each project is the sole responsibility of one craftsman and thus great pride and ownership of each job is ensured.

We can work from either Architectural drawings or, alternatively, work with a Client from inception through to completion on any ideas or designs they may have. We love the challenge of taking a concept and turning it into a reality

In recent years we have been approached and encouraged to undertake other types of commissioned works such as kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms and have established an exceptional reputation, where attention to detail and craftsmanship are second to none.

We actively encourage clients to visit us at our workshops where they can meet the craftsman working on their project. This process like none other enables our clients to appreciate the true bespoke nature of what is being created for them.

Working outside of Jersey does not pose a problem; we have recently manufactured a number of items which were destined for a private Client's property in the UK. Once the works were completed, all the joinery was carefully packed into a container, shipped across the water and after arriving safely, unpacked and installed in their new home.

We are mindful that fashion changes even in our industry but one thing that will always remain unchanged is quality. We are extremely proud of our history and the relationships that have been built over the many years, and with us now approaching our 75th birthday, we hope that our craft will continue for many more generations to come.

Invest in your future and have us create your next project.
